What is Boost?

While you're running a funding round with FounderCatalyst, we help you promote your round to potential investors using our free Boost feature.

The Boost page centralises all the initial information you want to share with potential investors in a single, company-branded location. You can share your pitch deck, intro video, high-level summary of the round (e.g., how much you're raising, valuation, SEIS/EIS availability), and details of the founders. You can share via email or social media your customised landing page with potential investors using a sharable link or QR code.

While many founders struggle to keep track of investor names, status and progress during raises, the FounderCatalyst “Boost” functionality enables founders to keep details of the round updated in real time to ensure no investor has out of date information. Founders can also track who has accessed the page, and investors have the opportunity to express their interest directly to founders in one click.

This video shows the end-to-end process:

Why do founders use Boost?

  1. Host everything on one page

  2. Avoid emailing massive files

  3. Ensure viewers are accessing the latest version of your documentation

  4. Included for free in all of our packages

The investor experience

Boost makes evaluating the investment opportunity and expressing interest incredibly straightforward.

Potential investors will click on your Boost link and first need to complete a short form and confirm their investor status for FCA compliance. After viewing the Boost page, they can choose to express their interest to you and can also book a meeting if you've shared a calendar link (as part of our packages/subscriptions we now have a free schedule calls feature you can link that). All very straightforward.

We have also created a comprehensive article on using FounderCatalyst as an investor.

How to create a Boost page on FounderCatalyst?

FounderCatalyst Boost gives you a branded page to present your funding round, share key information with investors and capture expressions of interest.

Before creating your Boost page, make sure you have created your FounderCatalyst account, completed your company details and defined your funding round. Specific Disclosures can be completed later, when you are preparing to close the round.

Create your Boost page

Select Boost page from the menu on the left hand side, then click Boost your company. Complete as much of the form as possible to create a stronger and more informative page for investors.

Headline and story

Complete your company introduction, headline, subheading and company story. Use this section to clearly explain what your company does, the problem it solves and why the opportunity may be attractive to investors. Keep it concise and aligned with the opening of your pitch deck.

You can also include links to relevant articles, interviews or videos using markdown formatting.

Key statistics

Add any headline figures that strengthen your investment case, such as revenue, customer numbers, growth, contracts, partnerships, market size or previous funding. This section is optional, so only include figures that add real value.

Deal terms

Complete your deal terms so investors can quickly understand the structure of your round, including the amount being raised, the investment terms and how the funds will be used. Make sure these details match your pitch deck and funding round information.

Press and customer quotes

Add short press quotes, customer feedback or other supporting endorsements where relevant. Include the source and focus on quotes that demonstrate credibility, traction or external validation.

Branding and company details

Choose your primary brand colour and decide whether to display a banner image. The recommended banner size is 1584 x 396 pixels, with important text and logos kept near the centre.
Complete your trading name, location and number of employees where relevant. You only need to add a trading name if it is different from your registered company name.

Round stage and tags

Select the stage that most accurately reflects your company, whether you are at ideation, MVP, revenue generating or scale up stage.

You can then add relevant tags, including your business model, sector, industry and whether SEIS, EIS or Advance Assurance applies. Only choose tags that accurately reflect the company and investment opportunity.

Links and media

Add your company website, meeting booking link, company LinkedIn page, Twitter or X account and an introductory video where available.

The LinkedIn field should contain your company page rather than a founder’s personal profile. Personal profiles can be added to the relevant founder’s Boost details.

Videos must be hosted on YouTube or Vimeo. Your meeting link can use FounderCatalyst Schedule or another booking service such as Calendly or SavvyCal.

Pitch deck

Select the pitch deck you want investors to view. It must first be uploaded as a PDF to the Intelligent Data Room.

Once uploaded, return to the Boost page editor and select the relevant document. PowerPoint files must be exported as a PDF before they can be uploaded.

Display options

Use the display options to choose whether investors can see the round progress bar, valuation and proposed closing date. Select any information you would prefer to keep hidden from the public page.

Founder information

Founder details appear within the Meet the Team section of your Boost page.

To update them, select People from the menu, choose the relevant founder and click Edit Details. Scroll to the Boost details section to add their biography, LinkedIn profile, social accounts, personal website, telephone number and other useful links.

Keep each biography concise and focused on the founder’s experience, role and relevance to the company.

Founder information can also be updated from Step 1 of the funding round by opening Founder Details and selecting Redefine.

Founder profile pictures

Profile pictures are taken from each founder’s FounderCatalyst account. To add or update an image, go to My Account Settings, select Picture and upload the relevant profile photo.

SEIS, EIS and Advance Assurance

Your Boost page can display whether SEIS or EIS is available and whether Advance Assurance has been received.

To update this information, return to Step 1 of your funding round, open Round Specifics, make the required changes and click Save. This may be needed if your Advance Assurance status changed after the round was created.

Review your Boost page

Save your changes before leaving the editor, then open the investor facing version and check that your company information, round details, links, pitch deck, founder profiles and contact information are correct.

You can return to the Boost page editor at any time to make updates during your raise.

Share your Boost page

Once your page is ready, you will receive a unique Boost link and QR code. These can be shared through LinkedIn, email, investor outreach, founder communities, events, presentations and printed materials.

Investor experience

Investors can use your Boost page to review your company, team, round details, key statistics, pitch deck and supporting materials.

They can also book a meeting through your calendar link or click I’m Interested to submit an expression of interest.

The button may be inactive when you view your own page while signed into FounderCatalyst. Open the link in a private or incognito browser window to test the investor experience.

TODO - Uploaded image description

Receiving investor interest

When an investor clicks I’m Interested, they will complete a short form with their details. You will receive an email notification and the investor will appear within the investor interest section of your Boost page.

TODO - Uploaded image description

Tracking activity

Use your Boost dashboard to monitor page impressions, views, identified visitors and expressions of interest. You can also see whether a viewer is already part of your funding round.

This helps you identify which investors are engaging with your page and where follow up may be needed.

TODO - Uploaded image description

Managing investor interest

Select Manage Investor Interest to review investors who have registered their interest, view their details and update their status.

Where appropriate, you can also add an investor directly to your funding round. Continue checking this section throughout your raise so new interest can be followed up promptly.

FAQs

There isn't a section on the Boost page to view our founder agreement or cap table - is that ok for investors?
Yes, that's fine. The purpose of the Boost page is to get investors interested in the opportunity to book a call with you (or registered interest so you can follow up with a call invite / share pitch deck / forecast model etc.).

Can we remove the minimum ticket size from our Boost page?

Including a minimum ticket size as this is useful information for investors. You can decide of the appropriate figure to not put off investors.
In Boost you can hide:

  • Hide progress completion bar
  • Hide valuation figure
  • Hide due to close date

Is there a way to ask people to enter their email address to view the Boost page?

No, but FounderCatalyst will not share your Boost page for you. The only people that will see your Boost page are those you share the link or QR code with (or people that they share the link with). We do collect email addresses for people that access your Boost page. As good practice, we suggest you only share information on a Boost page that is not confidential in nature.

Should I get an alert email when an investor:

a) views the boost?

We don't send an email on a view (though you can check here: https://www.foundercatalyst.com/account/boost/impressions to see who's visited

b) clicks 'I'm interested'?

You will get an email when 'I'm interested' is clicked.

Can I change the order of Directors on the Boost page?

No, it is not possible to manually put the directors in order.

Can I edit founder details in an agile round?

No - you will need to ask the FC support team because in a live round you can't edit those details (the 'People' section will be locked)
